Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environmental Officer to join our team at Pilgrim's Europe, Grantham, supporting and driving the site in health, safety, and environmental performance.

This role is within the Food Services Business Unit and involves direct support to the facility HSE Manager, advising and coaching on health, safety, and environment practices, compliance, and governance.

Become a champion of the Go for Zero HSE standards within the company. You will carry out regular inspections, support KPI submissions, advise on risks, and support environmental protection and continual improvement of the site’s safety culture and engagement.

Accountabilities:

1. Provide guidance, support, advice, and controls across all site functions. Empower front-line managers to ensure safety as a condition across their facilities, ensuring safe working equipment, facilities, and external environments.
2. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including HSE Central Leadership, Engineering, project teams, Procurement, Operations, Technical, OPEX, and Legal, on risks, issues, and key changes related to HSE standards, legal compliance, system implementations, and security.
3. Conduct regular inspections of the facility, respond to support requests, document inspections and audits, and assist the Central HSE team with internal and external audits (ISO 45001, 14001, insurance inspections, etc.).
4. Support and educate staff on risk areas related to the facility.
5. Support the Go For Zero strategy in collaboration with the Central HSE team.

The ideal candidate will be NEBOSH General Certificate qualified or equivalent, with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Experience in health, safety, and environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, HSG65) and knowledge of UK and EU environmental and safety legislation are required.
