Job summary

The University of Surrey is searching for an Assistant Health & Safety Advisor to join the Health & Safety team within FEPS to support the work of the Health & Safety Advisor and Manager. The post is a permanent, full‑time role based on the Stag Hill campus, offering opportunities to grow in health and safety within science and engineering settings.

You will act as the Faculty’s health and safety contact, build relationships with the Schools, and provide proactive, practical support to help

Qualifications

• Qualification in engineering, science or a related subject with relevant experience.
• NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or substantial health and safety experience in a lab/workshop setting.
• IOSH membership is desirable but not essential.
• Strong administrative and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive, high‑quality and comprehensive health and safety support to FEPS and its Schools.
• Be the main point of contact for health and safety matters within the Faculty.
• Help develop a positive safety culture and maintain high standards across activities.
• Support the Health & Safety Advisor and Manager in delivering risk assessments, monitoring and compliance.
