Job summary

The University of Surrey is seeking an Assistant Health & Safety Advisor to join the Health & Safety team in FEPS, based on the Stag Hill campus. You will assist the Health & Safety Advisor and Manager, supporting schools across engineering and physical sciences with proactive safety guidance.

This role offers development toward a specialist area, with interest noted in lasers or optical radiation sources, and a permanent full-time position on campus.

Qualifications

• Strong administration and communication skills.
• Experience or knowledge of health and safety in lab-based or workshop environments.
• Interest or experience in lasers or optical radiation sources would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the Faculty Health & Safety Advisor and Health & Safety Manager in the FEPS Health & Safety team.
• Act as a point of contact for health and safety within the Faculty and support the promotion of a positive safety culture.
• Develop familiarity with hazards across the Faculty's activities and provide proactive, high-quality safety support.
• Potential to specialise and expand responsibilities across the University, including exposure to laser/optical safety.
