Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + car allowance / package

A leading Regional Main Contractor that build, refurbish and regenerate homes and communities across the UK have an excellent opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join them on a permanent basis.

The company are an innovative and ambitious business that combine their industry expertise and unrivalled local knowledge to help transform communities and leave a lasting legacy everywhere they work.

They are looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join them, who will be responsible for advising on regional operational compliance of all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and best practices. Additionally, the HSE Manager will be responsible for ensuring that current procedures within the region comply with relevant policy and legislation, assisting with the production and review of project particular documentation.

The role includes:

  • Actively engaging with all levels of management at all stages of the construction process
  • Promoting a culture where safety, health and environmental considerations are integrated into everyday processes
  • Carrying out and analysing inspections and audits at the regions operational sites
  • Assessing the competence of contractors who work for the region
  • Evaluating essential risk assessments and method statements in association with operations staff
  • Liaising with enforcing authorities as required
  • Being a pro-active member of the national Health and Safety team and supporting and developing national OHSAS 18001 safety management system

Criteria:

  • Suited to an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental professional whose career history is one of extensive practical experience in the Construction industry, possibly having originally trained as a tradesperson familiar with new house building and refurbishment
  • Typical qualifications expected are NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Construction Certificate complete with a form of technical recognition such as TECH IOSH
  • Environmental qualification, such as IEMA Environmental Management or similar would be preferred
  • This role covers multiple sites so a valid driving licence is essential and applicants must be prepared to travel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, an inquisitive mind and an enthusiastic and energetic nature are essential
  • Happy to commute to / work across Norfolk
