Description
As a fast-paced organization with over 1000 sites, Asda’s Health and Safety management system is continually evolving. The business has ambitious plans for growth and embraces new ideas and innovation to support operational teams to succeed.
As part of the Health and Safety compliance team, you will support the business in managing Health and Safety operations, particularly within our Logistics estate which includes 2000 drivers, 1100 vehicles, 27 Depots, and over 1000 stores.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and requirements across all depots and online grocery operations.
- Providing expertise to support strategic priorities, such as load security training.
- Supporting incident management and enforcement contacts related to health and safety matters.
- Analyzing data to create awareness campaigns and leadership insights.
- Reviewing operational performance metrics to support continuous improvement.
- Developing procedures with stakeholders for new processes and equipment.
- Acting as the ambassador for health, safety, & environment, building relationships with key partners like Training, Operations, and GMB Union.
- Horizon scanning for emerging risks related to health, safety, & environmental issues.
- Analyzing data from incidents, external bodies, and other companies to improve procedures and reduce hazards.
- Leading serious investigations to identify root causes.
- Setting tactical direction for transport safety and road risk reduction nationally.
- Supporting site operations as SME for Transport Safety and compliance.
- Ensuring management systems are in place to reduce risk and ensure legal compliance.
- Developing engaging training materials and business accountability plans.
- Collaborating with regulators to ensure facility compliance.
Candidate Profile
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE regulations and licensing of operators.
- Operational management experience in retail/logistics, with a track record in H&S or Road Safety management.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across multiple channels.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent business partnering skills, with strong written and verbal communication.
- A proactive attitude guided by the Senior HSE Manager.
