Join a world-leading manufacturing business in an exciting and rewarding role at the forefront of our EHS function.

You will lead EHS at the Birstall site, ensuring legal compliance and adherence to PPG Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security procedures, standards, and processes.

The Birstall Plant is a lower tier COMAH site. You will report to the UK & Ireland EHS Country Manager.

This is a site-based position. Some level flexibility to travel within the country may be required, but this can be discussed during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess the implementation of the EHS Management System to ensure alignment with local legislation and PPG standards, and develop strategies for site investment in EHS infrastructure.
  2. Communicate EHS legal requirements to the local Leadership team and ensure compliance.
  3. Develop and implement EHS strategies in coordination with local and corporate guidelines, providing feedback to ensure sustainability and robustness.
  4. Define and maintain EHS resource needs, ensuring proper allocation to core activities.
  5. Collaborate with Process Safety Managers to address process safety requirements.
  6. Identify, prioritize, and propose budgets for EHS needs, complying with site and country guidelines.
  7. Support other EHS colleagues on site.
Qualifications
  1. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent safety qualification, or a Bachelor’s degree in EHS, chemistry, engineering, or related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in EHS management within manufacturing, preferably with COMAH experience.
  3. Deep knowledge of occupational health and safety or environmental regulations, with a commitment to staying informed on regulatory changes.
