Job summary

Meridian Business Support is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor for a site in Exeter, Devon. The role requires NEBOSH or IOSH certification and experience in manufacturing or engineering environments to deliver a proactive EHS service and ensure compliance with legal and company standards.

You will design and deliver training, maintain databases, support audits, investigate incidents and near misses, and liaise with regulators, contractors and internal teams as part of a busy on-site function.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH or IOSH certificate is essential.
  • Experience in engineering or manufacturing settings.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility is compliant with UK legislation and company standards for environment, health and safety.
  • Provide professional technical advice and administration support for the site.
  • Design and deliver technical training such as toolbox talks, permit writing, FLT training and BA training
  • Maintain training databases
  • Assist with internal and external auditing processes, including support for internal corporate audits.
  • Accurately report and support the investigation of incidents and near misses.
  • Act as a member of the site emergency team, providing leadership and onsite attendance where required.
  • Engage with stakeholders including contractors, regulators, and enforcement agencies.
  • Maintenance of H&S Legal Register.
  • Complete and review risk assessments and safe systems of work per legislation and company standards.

The Opportunity

If you are an experience EHS Coordinator or Advisor who holds a NEBOSH or IOSH certificate, then we have a fabulous opportunity for you in Exeter, Devon. It is essential that you have worked in a manufacturing or engineering environment, have some knowledge of good Health & Safety and Environmental control practices and be a great team player. You will be responsible for providing a professional Health and Safety service for the site, by coordinating and managing EHS matters to ensure that legal and Company standards are met.

Job Responsibilities
  • To ensure the facility is compliant with both UK legislation and company standards for environment, health, and safety.
  • To provide professional technical advice and administration support for the site.
  • To design and deliver technical training, such as general toolbox talks, permit writing, FLT training and BA training
  • Maintain training databases
  • To assist with internal and external auditing processes, including support for internal corporate audits.
  • To accurately report and support the investigation of incidents and near misses.
  • To be an active member of site emergency team, giving leadership and onsite attendance where required.
  • To engage with key internal and external stakeholders including contractors, regulators, and enforcement agencies.
  • Maintenance of H&S Legal Register.
  • To complete and review risk assessments and safe systems of work in accordance with current legislation and company standards.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience of working in an engineering or manufacturing background
  • Good working knowledge of UK environment, health, and safety legislation
  • NEBOSH or IOSH Certificate
  • Degree in Health & Safety Management or equivalent experience ideally, although not essential
  • Ability to design and deliver technical training and work effectively in a very fast paced manufacturing environment
Working Hours

Monday to Friday 8.30-5
