A vacancy has arisen within our team at Drax Power Station for a Health & Safety Advisor to support the Drax Contract Manager and the Divisional SHEQ Manager in developing risk management objectives, strategies, and policies.

Hargreaves Industrial Services provides a varied Operations and Maintenance service to our client at Drax Power Station. We handle, maintain, and reclaim materials including FBA, Coal, and Mitigant Slurry, while managing material stocks and transportation using a wide range of Mobile Plant.

The role briefly encompasses the following:

• Promote health and safety in the workplace and throughout the Division
• Identify and help develop Divisional and site safety objectives and the measurement of these objectives
• Carry out safety audits and site inspections
• Ensure statutory registers are kept up to date (e.g., COSHH, Lifting, PPE, Ladders, etc.)
• Ensure all personnel carry out work activities within client-led systems (e.g., permit to work, site rules, safety forums, and hazard reporting)
• Inform the Contracts Manager and SHEQ Manager on progress in all areas of Health and Safety
• Supervise and review the implementation of the Health & Safety Policies and the Integrated Management System
• Identify health and safety training and development needs for employees
• Liaise with customers, clients, and relevant bodies regarding safety matters
• Support the investigation of all accidents and incidents on contract
• Compile and distribute accident alerts and shared learning across the Division
• Develop and deliver training/briefing sessions on various topics
• Be recognized as a subject matter expert on all Health and Safety topics

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/attributes:

• Previous experience in the role and industry
• NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum (preferably Diploma)
• Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring proactive health and safety solutions and behavioral safety techniques
• Ability to deliver professional presentations and communicate effectively at all levels
• Knowledge of environmental and quality management is beneficial
• Due to health and safety risks, all individuals must comply with face-fitted dust mask rules; individuals must be clean-shaven when on site.
