About the role:

The HSEQ Advisor role involves being the eyes, ears, and voice of HSEQ within the business, primarily on-site. Responsibilities include conducting internal audits, attending site meetings, and supporting site teams to ensure health and safety standards are met.

While some tasks can be performed remotely, most require site presence, including occasional night or weekend work. The role covers multiple sites, predominantly in London, with frequent travel to project locations.

The HSEQ advisor acts as the main contact for site teams and a trusted colleague on HSEQ matters, working closely with project managers and frontline workers to support their HSEQ management.

Group Metropolitan values continual development. A health and safety-related qualification is required, with additional qualifications or memberships developed upon appointment. Experience, skills, and cultural fit are prioritized.

This is a medium technical skill role, supported and mentored by a senior HSEQ professional. A reasonable level of the skills listed below is expected, with a development plan to address any gaps and promote ongoing improvement.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support local management with HSEQ across multiple projects.
  • Identify and implement improvements to HSEQ practices.
  • Provide guidance and advice to resolve major issues and meet business HSEQ requirements.
  • Promote Group Metropolitan objectives and support their implementation.
  • Assist in developing health and safety documents such as risk assessments and construction phase plans.
  • Manage and investigate incidents and accidents within your scope.
  • Plan, monitor, and manage the internal HSEQ audit program.
  • Review and manage the HSEQ management system within your scope.
  • Ensure consistent achievement and maintenance of HSEQ standards, with regular communication.
  • Manage invoicing and ordering through line management for central processing.
  • Collaborate with the HSEQ team to support business needs.
  • Monitor and support HSEQ compliance across projects in line with legal, regulatory, and business requirements.

Experience

  • At least 2 years supporting HSEQ management in a multi-site environment.
  • Experience in construction or M&E-related industries.

  • Nebosh Certificate (Construction)
  • Technical Member of IOSH
  • ISO Internal Auditing Certificate
