Job summary

Daniel Owen Ltd. is recruiting a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to provide expert SHE advice to member companies across the North East.

You will visit site teams, promote safe systems of work and drive a positive safety culture while managing your own diary and regional travel. The role requires NEBOSH and IOSH qualifications, construction experience, and a full UK driving licence; a Level 6 safety qualification is highly desirable.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct health, safety and environmental inspections across member sites
• Provide practical advice to members, contractors and employees
• Promote safe systems of work and industry best practice
• Assist with compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation
• Carry out incident investigations and produce clear reports
• Support development and review of risk and COSHH assessments
• Build relationships with member companies through site visits and support
• Prepare health and safety training for members
• Mentor Trainee SHE Advisors when required
• Maintain high professional standards and contribute to service development
• Attend training to support ongoing professional development

Location: North East England, with regional travel
Salary: £48,000 - £52,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm flexi

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join a well-established and supportive organisation providing specialist SHE advice to its member companies.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical construction background who enjoys working closely with site teams, advising businesses and helping to promote a positive safety culture.

You will manage your own diary and plan your working week, visiting sites predominantly across the North East. The organisation offers genuine flexibility and a family-friendly working environment.

Key Responsibilities

As the Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor, you will:

• Conduct scheduled health, safety and environmental inspections across member company sites
• Provide practical advice and guidance to members, contractors and employees
• Promote safe systems of work and construction industry best practice
• Support businesses in complying with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation
• Carry out accident and incident investigations, producing clear and detailed reports
• Assist with the development and review of risk assessments and COSHH assessments
• Review member company health and safety documentation and provide constructive feedback
• Build strong working relationships with member companies through regular site visits and ongoing support
• Prepare and deliver health and safety training to member companies
• Support and mentor Trainee SHE Advisors where required
• Maintain high professional standards and contribute to the ongoing development of the SHE advisory service
• Attend relevant training to support your own professional and technical development

Previous training delivery experience would be beneficial, but full support and training can be provided to develop this area of your role.

About You

To be considered for this position, you should have:

• A minimum NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
• Tech IOSH membership or equivelent
• A practical background within construction
• Experience working on or visiting active construction sites
• A strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practice
• Experience completing site inspections, audits and incident investigations
• The ability to produce and review risk assessments and COSHH assessments
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to advise employees, contractors and senior stakeholders
• A full UK driving licence
• The flexibility to travel

A Level 6 health and safety qualification, such as an NVQ or Diploma, would be highly desirable. Environmental qualifications would also be advantageous.

Salary and Benefits
