Join a Homebuilder You Can Trust

Are you an approachable and solutions-focused health and safety professional who enjoys working collaboratively with operational teams?

We are looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to support our East Midlands, Central and Eastern regions. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will provide practical advice, coaching and assurance across construction sites, regional teams and offices.

You will join a business that believes strong health and safety performance is achieved through trust, teamwork, clear communication and a shared commitment to continuous improvement.

About Allison Homes

At Allison Homes, our vision is to be known as the homebuilder you can trust. We create great homes and communities where people can thrive, building long-term relationships through integrity, quality and care.

Our culture is shaped by five values: Kindness, Trust, Teamwork, Passion and Performance. We want colleagues to feel welcomed, supported and able to make a meaningful contribution to our business and the communities we serve.

The Role

Reporting to the Group Health & Safety Manager, you will help maintain and improve health, safety and environmental performance across our East Midlands, Central and Eastern regions.

You will work closely with site management, construction teams, regional departments and colleagues across the business, providing clear and practical support while monitoring compliance with company standards and relevant UK legislation.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Undertaking health, safety and environmental inspections and audits, producing clear reports and monitoring actions through to completion
  • Providing practical advice, coaching and day-to-day support to site management, construction teams and regional colleagues
  • Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and supporting effective corrective and preventive action
  • Monitoring compliance with company policies, procedures, management systems and relevant UK health and safety legislation
  • Preparing and reviewing risk assessments, safe systems of work and project documentation, including Construction Phase Plans
  • Attending relevant project and safety meetings and providing clear, proportionate advice
  • Preparing and maintaining standard health and safety documentation for new developments
  • Maintaining accurate records and supporting the continuous improvement of the online Health & Safety Hub
  • Developing and delivering toolbox talks, awareness sessions, safety bulletins and other internal safety communications
  • Producing monthly reports covering audits, actions, accidents, incidents, near misses and emerging trends
  • Supporting environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution prevention, spill control and site protection measures
  • Working collaboratively across the business to improve standards while supporting construction and operational objectives
What We're Looking For

You will bring a practical and collaborative approach to health and safety. You will be comfortable working independently, managing different priorities and building effective relationships with people at all levels.

You will need:

  • A NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent health and safety qualification
  • A scaffold inspection qualification and/or demonstrable scaffold inspection experience
  • Strong working knowledge of current UK health and safety legislation and industry good practice
  • Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and incident investigations
  • The ability to produce clear, accurate and practical reports, guidance and safety documentation
  • Confident communication, coaching and influencing skills
  • An understanding of environmental compliance, including waste management and pollution prevention
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and related business systems
  • A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel regularly across the regions
  • A proactive, approachable and solutions-focused working style

Experience within housebuilding or residential construction would be beneficial, although we also welcome applications from candidates with relevant health and safety experience gained in other sectors.

We recognise that candidates may not meet every desirable criterion. If you have the essential qualification and relevant experience, together with the ability to build strong working relationships, we would be pleased to hear from you.

What You'll Get in Return

We offer a supportive and collaborative working environment in which colleagues are encouraged to develop, contribute ideas and make a difference.

The package for this role includes:

  • Competitive salary
  • Car allowance, with the option to join the company salary sacrifice car scheme
  • Discretionary Bonus Scheme
  • 25 days' holiday, extending to 27 days' holiday after two years of continuous service
  • Pension Scheme
  • Group Life Assurance
  • Group Income Protection Scheme
  • Smart Health Employee Assistance Programme
  • Simply Health Cash Plan, available on an opt-in basis
  • Allison Homes House Purchase Discount Scheme
  • Opportunities for learning and professional development
Why Allison Homes?

This role gives you the opportunity to influence standards across several regions, work closely with construction and operational teams and help strengthen a positive, practical safety culture.

We are committed to fair and accessible recruitment. If you require a reasonable adjustment at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know.
