Job summary

Amentum is recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor to support the development and delivery of industrial safety arrangements at the Hinkley Point C site. The role focuses on promoting a strong safety culture during commissioning and coordinating with construction safety teams to ensure a smooth transition to operational safety.

The ideal candidate will hold a NEBOSH Diploma, be an IOSH member, and have 6+ years in OH&S management within high-hazard industries.

Qualifications

• 6+ years' experience in OH&S management within industrial or similar settings.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain safety management systems.
• Strong understanding of OH&S legislation (HSWA, MHSWR, PUWER, LOLER) and codes of practice.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the CommOps Industrial Safety Management System (ISMS).
• Contribute to the industrial safety training programme and ensure staff are trained on fire protection topics.
• Collaborate with HPC construction and Nuclear Generation safety teams to ensure seamless safety integration.
• Support emergency preparedness and response arrangements.
• Coordinate statutory safety assessments with cross-functional input.

Job description

Amentum are currently recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor who will support the development and delivery of the industrial safety arrangements for the Hinkley Point C operational site. They will help establish and promote the safety culture for the commissioning phase of HPC. The position also includes liaison with the construction safety teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operational industrial safety arrangements.

• Developing industrial safety management system processes comprising the CommOps Industrial Safety Management System (ISMS)
• Participating in the development of the industrial safety training programme comprising of topic specific training
• Providing subject matter input to the training team to ensure that the organisation for the operational site is adequately trained on fire protection topics and processes
• Developing and maintaining an effective collaborative working relationship with the HPC construction site and Nuclear Generation industrial safety teams
• Assisting in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness and response arrangements
• Coordinating the delivery of statutory assessments with cross functional input from relevent teams
• Support the creation an industrial safety culture for the CommOps Organisation
  Hold an appropriate qualification e.g., H&S Diploma (NEBOSH) and current membership of IOSH
• Minimum 6 years' experience in OH&S Management with responsibility for developing, implementing and maintaining safety management systems within an industrial or similar setting
• Detailed understanding of OH&S Safety Legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 (HSWA), Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (MHSWR), Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)) and codes of practice and the ability to interpret applicability to a range of different operating conditions and contexts
• Experience carrying out and reviewing Risk Assessment (RAs) within a range of different operating environments
• Experience of working in a high hazard industry such as nuclear, oil & gas, chemical, manufacturing
