Job summary

GXO is hiring a Health & Safety Advisor to join the Bridgwater team on a full-time, on-site basis. You will champion safety standards, develop and maintain SSOW, and lead safety training across a complex, highly regulated environment.

The role requires NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ Level 3 and strong knowledge of health and safety legislation. You will manage contractor risk, input data into GXO systems, and participate in HSE meetings to ensure actions are tracked and closed.

Qualifications

• Must have NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health & Safety with CPD evidence.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and promoting a safety‑first culture.
• Excellent communication skills to build trusted relationships at all levels.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure or defence environments is advantageous.
• Ability to audit, assess risk, investigate incidents and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Management Plans, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
• Deliver and record safety training, identify gaps and escalate where needed.
• Input, analyse and report Health, Safety and Environment data in GXO and Client systems.
• Chair and present at HSE meetings; track actions and ensure closure/escalation.

At Hinkley Point C, we’re helping to build Britain’s first new nuclear power station in a generation—providing zero‑carbon electricity for around six million homes. As a Tier One partner, GXO delivers essential warehousing and transport services to support the project.

Here at GXO, we’re looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our Bridgwater team. You will champion safety standards, drive a proactive safety culture, and support our teams across a complex and highly regulated environment.

This is a full‑time permanent position. You’ll be working on‑site Monday to Friday, 08:00 till 16:00. However, some flexibility is required, this is logistics after all!

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to£40,000, depending on experience and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Developing, leading and maintaining Management Plans, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
• Delivering and recording colleague safety training while identifying and escalating any gaps
• Inputting, analysing and reporting Health, Safety and Environment data into both GXO and Client systems
• Chairing and presenting at HSE meetings, ensuring actions are tracked, closed and escalated where required
• Managing contractors end‑to‑end—from permit checks and inductions to compliance, pass control and exit requirements

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health & Safety (plus evidence of ongoing CPD)
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and proven experience promoting a safety‑first culture
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels
• Experience within construction, infrastructure or defence environments (ideal but not essential)
• Confidence in auditing, risk assessment, incident investigation and driving continuous improvement
