Job summary

Wilson James is recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor for the Hinkley Point C project. You will provide professional guidance to operations, contractors and the safety team, promoting safe and compliant practices across the site.

Essentially, you will lead inspections, RAMS reviews and incident reporting while collaborating with multiple teams to drive continuous safety improvements on a major construction project.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Health & Safety experience in construction environments.
  • NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate required.
  • CSCS Professional Card (White) required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction Health & Safety regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong cross-team relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical Health & Safety guidance across the HPC project.
  • Carry out H&S inspections and site audits.
  • Monitor working practices to ensure compliance with H&S standards.
  • Support incident, accident and near-miss reporting and investigation.
  • Review RAMS and H&S processes and promote best practices.
  • Collaborate with operational teams, contractors and other H&S departments.
  • Identify unsafe practices and implement practical solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement of safety culture.

Health & Safety Advisor

Location: Hinkley Point C (HPC)
Sector: Construction Logistics
Starting Salary: £42,500 per annum


We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our team supporting the Hinkley Point C project.


This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in promoting and maintaining a positive health, safety and environmental culture. You will work closely with operational teams, managers, contractors and the wider Health & Safety team, providing professional guidance and supporting safe and compliant operations across the project.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide practical and professional Health & Safety advice across the project

  • Carry out Health & Safety inspections and site audits

  • Monitor employee and contractor working practices to ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained

  • Support accident, incident and near-miss reporting

  • Review and support RAMS and Health & Safety processes

  • Work collaboratively with operational teams, contractors and other Health & Safety departments

  • Identify unsafe practices and provide practical solutions

  • Share best practice and contribute to continuous improvement


What We're Looking For

Essential:


  • Previous Health & Safety experience

  • NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate

  • CSCS Professional Card (White)

  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations within the construction industry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to build strong working relationships across different teams and levels


Desirable:


  • IOSH membership, preferably TechIOSH

  • Previous Hinkley Point C experience or an existing HPC pass

  • Driving licence

  • SMSTS/SSSTS qualification
