Highfield Professional Solutions Ltd is recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support a major nuclear project in Reading. This site-based role provides hands-on safety support across the project, working closely with the HSW Manager to maintain high standards of safety, compliance and assurance.

The role is contracted until end of 2026, with potential extension or permanent opportunities. The rate is £55 per hour Umbrella PAYE, 42.5-hour week, Mon-Fri, start ASAP, with BPSS and SC

Qualifications

  • Nuclear sector experience is essential.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and management systems.
  • Experience with site inspections, audits and assurance activities.
  • Experience reviewing RAMS and method statements.
  • Experience in accident/incident investigations and causal analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Able to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance, British nationality required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out site inspections, audits and assurance activities.
  • Review RAMS, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Support accident and incident investigations and causal analysis.
  • Support external audits and close-out of findings.
  • Deliver HS inductions, training and presentations.
  • Promote safe working practices across employees and subcontractors.
  • Support implementation of Health & Safety management systems.
  • Monitor and support Health & Safety KPIs.
  • Work with Environmental and Quality teams to maintain integrated compliance.
  • Assist the HSW Manager with wider project Health & Safety requirements.

Health & Safety Advisor - Nuclear

Reading | £55/hr Umbrella PAYE | Contract to End of 2026 | Potential Extension / Permanent | ASAP

Location: Reading - fully site-based

Rate: £55 per hour Umbrella PAYE

Contract: Until end of 2026, with potential extension / view to permanent

Hours: 42.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday-Friday, 8.5 hours per day

Start: ASAP

Security: BPSS to start, with SC uplift required

We're recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support a major nuclear project in Reading.

This is a site-based role providing hands-on Health & Safety support across the project, working closely with the HSW Manager to maintain high standards of safety, compliance and assurance.

The Role
  • Carrying out site inspections, audits and assurance activities.
  • Reviewing RAMS, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Supporting accident and incident investigations, including causal analysis.
  • Supporting external audits and the close-out of findings.
  • Delivering Health & Safety inductions, training and presentations.
  • Promoting safe working practices across employees and subcontractors.
  • Supporting the implementation of Health & Safety management systems.
  • Monitoring and supporting Health & Safety KPIs.
  • Working closely with Environmental and Quality teams to maintain integrated compliance.
  • Supporting the HSW Manager with wider project Health & Safety requirements.
Essential Requirements
  • Previous Health & Safety experience within the nuclear sector - essential.
  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent - essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety management systems and UK H&S legislation.
  • Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and assurance activities.
  • Experience reviewing RAMS, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Experience supporting accident/incident investigations and causal analysis.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Must be eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance.
  • Sole British nationality required - dual nationals cannot be considered due to project security requirements.
Desirable
  • CMIOSH or working towards chartered status.
  • Accident/incident investigation qualification.
  • Train the Trainer qualification.
  • Experience delivering H&S training.
  • Experience on major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Environmental experience.

Nuclear Health & Safety experience is essential for this position
