Sheffield is an ambitious city with a clear vision to close unfair gaps in the length and quality of people’s lives. We’re looking for an experienced public health professional to lead complex programmes that improve health and reduce inequalities. You will bring a strong track record in strategy development, partnership working, commissioning and delivery. Reporting to a Consultant in Public Health, you will provide leadership across Tobacco Control and Employment and Health. You will lead the Tobacco Control team, shape priorities, support colleagues and partners, and influence change across the wider system. You will also manage a member of staff working on employment and health, providing direction and oversight across strategy, partnerships, commissioning and service improvement. You will build on Sheffield’s strong performance in delivering our Tobacco Control Strategy and make the most of the opportunities presented by the Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026. You will lead the commissioning of Stop Smoking services and develop innovative, evidence-based approaches that support communities experiencing the poorest health to become smokefree.

If you’re looking for a role where you can make a lasting difference for Sheffield’s communities, we’d love to hear from you.

Interviews are planned for week commencing insert date here. For informal queries please contact Ruth Granger, Consultant in Public Health, Sheffield City Council ruth.granger@sheffield.gov.uk
