Job summary

The University of Manchester invites applications for a Research Associate in Health Economics to join the HOPE research group. You will conduct econometric analyses on health care data and collaborate with NHS and DHSC stakeholders as part of NIHR PRUComm.

Strong econometrics and data skills, plus experience shaping policy-relevant research, are essential. This is a hybrid role with core office presence in Manchester.

Qualifications

• Excellent undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Economics or a related quantitative discipline.
• Excellent Masters degree (or equivalent) in Economics or Health Economics, with a substantial econometrics component.
• Experience of applying micro-econometric techniques.
• Experience of managing and analysing complex data sets.
• Clear oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with both academic and policy audiences.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, conduct and analysis of novel research as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Identify and critically appraise relevant academic and policy literature.
• Source, collate and clean a range of administrative and survey data on health and care spending, utilisation, and outcomes.
• Design and undertake micro-econometric analyses.
• Develop networks and productive working relationships with key stakeholders within the NHS and Department of Health and Social Care.
