Job summary

Bevan Brittan LLP is seeking an Associate (4+ PQE) to join our Health and Care Regulatory team, advising health, social care and education clients on a range of contentious and non-contentious matters.

The role offers exposure to management of complex litigation, Court of Protection work, and opportunities to contribute to client care, business development and mentoring junior colleagues, within a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ PQE with strong regulatory or litigation background.

Our Health and Care Regulatory team provides advice and support to health, social care, education and housing organisations across the public and independent sector. We are a team of over 60 colleagues operating out of all four of our offices (Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and London) on a flexible hybrid basis. We take pride in providing high-quality support to our clients which is clear, user-friendly and responsive. We are open to discussions about alternative working patterns.

The role

We have an opportunity for an Associate (4+PQE) to join our team, offering the opportunity to be a part of a diverse and rich practice area that is intellectually stimulating and hugely rewarding. The role will involve advising clients on a range of health, social care and education issues, both contentious and non-contentious.

The team's services include management of complex litigation in the Court of Protection, human rights, mental health, safeguarding, patient safety, complaints and disputes, education (including SEND), children law and challenges to decision-making in in health and social care.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage your own varied caseload of both advisory and litigation matters
• Advocacy hearings (including Court of Protection and family court) and Tribunals
• Active involvement in client care and business development
• Supervision of more junior colleagues

What we are looking for from you

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• 4+ PQE
• Experience in either Court of Protection, education or children's law;
• An ability to work confidently and effectively with others, clients and colleagues alike
• Technical excellence, organised, lateral thinker with an eye for detail
• Enthusiasm to develop legal skills and a willingness to take on challenges
• Team player, with the temperament to form strong and sustained working partnerships
• Practical and commercial approach
• Experience of being involved with business development initiatives
• Experience of supervising more junior colleagues
