Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Health Care Assistant to support sexual health clinics across Somerset. You will assist in patient care, act as a chaperone during examinations, and perform delegated clinical tasks under qualified supervision.

Training in microscopy, vaccination support and asymptomatic screening follows competency assessment, with travel across the Trust requiring a driving licence or access to transport.

Competenze

• NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a health-related discipline.
• Venepuncture experience or willingness to train for it.
• Experience in a healthcare setting.

The Health Care Assistant post sits within the Somerset Wide Integrated Sexual Health (SWISH) team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, on a 12-month fixed-term basis. The work is supporting sexual health clinics across Somerset, giving direct patient support, chaperoning during examinations and carrying out delegated clinical tasks under qualified clinicians. Specialist training in microscopy, vaccination support and asymptomatic screening follows competency assessment, and the role involves travel across the Trust, so a driving licence or access to transport is needed.

Qualifications

Experience

• Communicating sensitively and in a non-judgemental manner

Checks & eligibility

• Valid driving licence, or access to transport with appropriate business insurance
