Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Health Care Assistant to join the SWISH team, supporting patients in sexual health services. You will work alongside nurses and doctors, contributing to compassionate, confidential and inclusive care across Somerset.

You will perform direct patient support, assist with examinations, and contribute to clinic operations. Training will enable microscopy, vaccination support, and delivery of asymptomatic screening services.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, patient-focused care delivery.
• Willingness to learn and develop clinical skills.
• Ability to work with qualified clinicians and medical staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient support in sexual health clinics.
• Act as chaperone during examinations.
• Undertake delegated clinical tasks under supervision.
• Maintain clinic stock and equipment; perform administrative duties.
• Develop specialist skills through training, including microscopy, vaccination support, and asymptomatic screening services.
