Job description

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Healthcare Assistant on Prince of Wales ward in Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Prince of Wales is currently a general medical ward.

Experience in an acute hospital setting would be advantageous, but training will be provided.

Post – Full time / Part time

Applicants must have an approachable manner necessary to deal with patients and their relatives. Desirable experience includes working in a hospital environment. Applicants will work as part of a team of nurses on the ward and undertake patient care tasks under the supervision of a Registered General Nurse responsible for patient management.

Main duties of the job

  1. Assist the registered nurse/practitioner in delivering high-quality holistic patient care, maintaining patients' dignity and equality.
  2. Ensure principles set out in the fundamentals of care are incorporated into daily practice to provide high-quality service.
  3. Assist patients in maintaining their hygiene and personal appearance.
  4. Perform duties within the care plan delegated by a qualified practitioner, for which relevant training and assessment have been completed.
  5. Prepare ward/clinical area for receiving patients, ensuring cleanliness and tidiness, and report any untidiness to the appropriate person.
  6. Assist in the admission of new patients, including preparing beds, welcoming patients, and showing them around the ward.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
