Axbridge & Wedmore Medical Practice in Swindon area is hiring a Health Care Assistant for a 16-hour week role within the primary care team. You will assist with routine clinical tasks under direction of senior nurses and GPs, including blood sampling, wound care, urinalysis and suture removal, with proven phlebotomy skills essential.

You'll work alongside GPs, practice nurses and prescribing paramedics, maintaining patient records, following clinical protocols and upholding infection control

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Health Care Assistant.
• Phlebotomy skills and recent practice.
• Ability to follow protocols and clinical standards.
• Confidentiality and safeguarding awareness.
• IT literacy and basic clinical systems.

Responsabilités

• Assist with routine patient care tasks as directed by senior nurses and GPs.
• Take blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Provide wound care and ulcer care, including Doppler assessment.
• Remove sutures.
• Carry out urinalysis and new patient medicals.
• Chaperone patients and assist clinicians during examinations.
• Request pathology tests such as urine cultures and swabs.
• Carry out long term medical condition reviews, including diabetic foot assessments.
• Follow agreed clinical protocols and refer to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate.
• Maintain and promote infection control and prevention standards within the practice.
• Perform ECGs and blood pressure monitoring.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in line with practice policy and confidentiality requirements.

The core work is routine clinical care such as blood sampling, wound and ulcer care, urinalysis and suture removal, carried out as directed by senior nurses and GPs. Experience

Nice to have

• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care
• Experience working in primary care or community health settings
• Training or experience with ECGs
• Familiarity with EMIS Web
• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
