Job summary

Lavender Lodge Care Home in Derby is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to provide high-quality personal care to residents in a safe, respectful environment. You will help with daily activities, promote independence, monitor wellbeing and work closely with nurses and families.

The role requires a compassionate nature, strong communication, teamwork and a willingness to undertake training. Shifts may include weekends; DBS is preferred, and right to work in the UK applies with no sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a care home or healthcare setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support.
  • Assist residents with eating, drinking and maintaining a healthy diet.
  • Support mobility, transfers and use of mobility equipment.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' wellbeing.
  • Record care provided and maintain documentation.
  • Support residents with medication in accordance with training and procedures.
  • Maintain residents' privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
  • Encourage residents to stay independent and active.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Assist with activities and social engagement.
  • Follow safeguarding, infection control, health and safety policies.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
  • Communicate with residents, relatives, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
  • Attend training and maintain required knowledge and skills.
  • Report accidents, incidents, concerns or suspected abuse promptly.

The Healthcare Assistant provides high-quality personal care and support to residents in a safe, respectful and compassionate environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Support residents with mobility, transfers and use of mobility equipment.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or emotional wellbeing.
  • Record care provided accurately and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Support residents with medication in accordance with training and care-home procedures.
  • Maintain residents' privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
  • Encourage residents to remain as independent and active as possible.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Assist with activities and social engagement.
  • Follow safeguarding, infection-control, health-and-safety and care-home policies.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
  • Communicate appropriately with residents, relatives, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
  • Attend training and maintain required knowledge and skills.
  • Report accidents, incidents, concerns or suspected abuse immediately through the correct procedures.

Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK - unfortunately, sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Valid/updated DBS certificate preferred, where possible.
  • Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Caring, compassionate and respectful approach to residents.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to complete required training and follow care-home policies
