Job description

Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic health care assistant to work across three organisations: Witton Medical Centre, Redlam Surgery, and Limefield Surgery, all in close proximity. This is a new role supporting the wider nursing team across the surgeries. The position is ideally 25 hours, with some flexibility. HCA clinics will run Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:30.

Main duties of the job

• Undertake, record, and follow guidelines for tasks received appropriate training for:
• Urinalysis and specimen preparation for pathology investigations
• Measuring and recording physiological data such as blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight
• Phlebotomy and venepuncture
• Simple wound care and ECG recording
• Chaperoning duties
• Prepare and maintain environments and equipment for patient care
• Assist in promoting health and well-being awareness
• Provide accurate information to patients within competence
• Follow health and safety policies

This role is new, with future responsibilities including chronic disease management and injections.

About Us

We are three surgeries with a shared management team, working on a set rota basis.

• Witton Medical Centre: ~10,500 patients, 4 GPs, 1 salaried GP, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Physician Associate, and 4 nurses.
• Redlam Surgery: ~4,500 patients, 3 GPs, Physician Associate, 1 nurse, and 1 HCA.
• Limefield Surgery: ~4,500 patients, GP Partner, locum GP, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Physician Associates, nurses, and HCA.

Wider PCN staff also attend all surgeries.
