Overview
The Health and Wellbeing Coach will work in the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire community providing health and lifestyle coaching and care co‑ordination within their areas.
Job responsibilities
- Independently running health and wellbeing workshops or exercise classes in a group, in a virtual setting or face‑to‑face for NHS service users experiencing mental wellbeing difficulties, who may also experience long‑term health conditions.
- Independently conducting health and lifestyle initial appointments and one‑to‑one sessions via telephone or video call. The Healthy Living Healthy Minds and Get Active for Low Mood programmes aim to improve service user wellbeing by focusing on lifestyle factors such as physical activity levels and healthier eating, addressing causes and barriers to change.
- Contributing to programme development and assisting in producing resources.
This is a 12 month fixed‑term maternity cover role.
Skills and experience
Essential
- Minimum level 3 accredited qualification in personal training or exercise instruction (such as REPs or CIMSPA)
- Experience of delivering face‑to‑face or virtual exercise classes
- Experience of working individually and within a team
- Ability to encourage behavioural changes, and design individualised health & wellbeing plans
- Sound health and wellbeing knowledge including exercise and nutrition
- Experience of working with people experiencing mental wellbeing difficulties
- Willingness to work Tuesday evenings
- Basic knowledge of the Talking Therapies mental health service
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Adept in time management and prioritisation
- Friendly and approachable with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An awareness of and commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusion
- Willingness to travel, which may include overnight stays on occasion, as and when required
Desirable
- Level 3 GP Referral (Also known as Level 3 Exercise Referral)
- Certificate / diploma in behavioural change, personal coaching, or motivational interviewing
- Recognised qualifications in exercise class instruction
