The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) seeks a Health and Safety Manager to join its dynamic team. The role focuses on delivering expert guidance on health and safety protocols and ensuring compliance with legislation. You will manage health and safety systems and support training initiatives across various offices, contributing significantly to the organization’s commitment to high standards in safety management.
Job Introduction
As a Health and Safety Manager, you will join a dynamic and inclusive People team dedicated to supporting and guiding on a range of Health and Safety (H&S) protocols. The IOPC is evolving its culture, perspectives, and ethos to support its core outcomes. This role offers an opportunity to develop your mindset and approaches to contribute to improving the police complaints system in England and Wales.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide detailed advice and guidance to the H&S Forum and People Impact and Workforce Planning Assurance Board, working with staff to oversee the implementation of health and safety legislative and best practice requirements across the organization. You will also line manage and support the Health and Safety Advisor. Responsibilities include maintaining the health and safety management system, preparing training materials, delivering staff training, and implementing the Annual Plan and H&S Communication Strategy.
The IOPC has offices in Cardiff, Croydon, Birmingham, London, Sale, Wakefield, and Warrington. This role, part of the People Directorate, involves collaborative work with stakeholders including Estates/FM staff, Operations staff, Committee members, and other personnel across sites. Occasional travel may be required to build relationships.
