Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join us at our site in Milton Keynes with occasional travel to support in Birmingham. In this role, you will provide guidance and advice on environmental, health, safety, and welfare matters, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
Championing health & safety best practices, you’ll train colleagues and employees in line with our policies and procedures and ensure the highest standards are maintained. You will deliver the Health & Safety plan to reduce risk and accidents and undertake regular inspections to foster a culture of safety and legal compliance.
You’ll be adept at collaborating and understanding operational challenges. In addition to providing expert advice, you’ll be part of the solution—engaging with branch teams and offering practical ways to address risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with branch management to ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental statutory requirements, management procedures, and company strategy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and improve working practices and work instructions, ensuring continuity of HSE management across the organization.
- Manage incident investigations, cause analysis, and ensure effective action management.
- Work with branch teams to develop and manage management plans using a risk-based approach, delivering targeted improvement initiatives.
- Manage data submissions related to Environmental Permit requirements.
- Take ownership of HSE risk management processes with branch teams, ensuring active stakeholder involvement.
- Identify opportunities to digitalize HSE processes and practices.
- Support contractor management and permits, deploying effective risk management strategies.
- Implement waste recycling initiatives, ensure proper waste management, and verify waste contractor licenses.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Proven experience as an HSE professional in a cross-sector environment.
- Detailed knowledge of GMP, ideally in materials handling, processing, and distribution.
- Experience managing HSE systems.
- Understanding of Risk Management principles, capable of breaking down complex problems.
- Experience conducting system and compliance audits, supported by relevant qualifications.
- Sound decision-making skills, both commercial and technical.
- Knowledge of UK HS & Enviro Law, ISO14001 & ISO45001 standards.
- Excellent communication skills and professional manner across all levels.
- Full UK driving license.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- IEMA accreditation.
