KSD Support Services Ltd, part of the KSD Group, is seeking a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to develop, implement, and maintain policies across projects in the UK. You will provide proactive guidance to managers and subcontractors to uphold safe working practices and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include risk assessments, method statements, training delivery and incident investigations, ensuring ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven health, safety and environmental experience in construction/FM.
• NEBOSH certificate or equivalent qualification required.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Company Overview

KSD Support Services Ltd is part of the KSD Group, a leading building maintenance and facilities management provider operating across the UK. The company delivers comprehensive FM services to a portfolio of prestigious clients, including major retail, hospitality, and commercial organisations such as Tesco and Stonegate Group.

Job Purpose

To work in developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for staff, subcontractors and clients. Your expertise will help us identify potential hazards, promote safety awareness, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise closely with the SMT to effect new H&S systems for the business. Provide day-to-day health, safety and environmental advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, engineers, clients and subcontractors;
• Implement, and review health, safety and environmental policies and procedures in line with current legislation; Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, legislation, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 4500 standards; dedicated audit governance. Attend client meetings as and when required by the client; Manage the relationship and on-boarding process for subcontractors; Conduct site inspections, spot checks and audits, prioritising high risk activities for the Company and subcontractors; Deliver in-house training sessions, toolbox talks and new starter inductions; Lead with investigations of incidents and accidents, including reporting any RIDDOR reportable incidents to the HSE within the prescribed time frame and performing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences; Work closely with KSD's various departments to promote and improve a positive culture of health and safety awareness throughout the Company.
• Form risk assessments and method statements across genres – CoSHH, Work Equipment, Lifting Operations, Manual Handling, Display Screen and so on and so forth. Prepare documentation and site folders for large projects; particularly F10 contracts. Maintain and keep the Company's accreditations up to date (#####/14001/45001). Prepare detailed reports on the Company's health and safety performance, compliance, and make recommendations for improvement for board meetings presentations. Ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided to staff and that machinery and equipment meet safety standards in tandem with the HR department. Support the HR Department from time to time with health and safety training course bookings and follow-up with staff where necessary. Attend Board meetings from time to time to report as required (RIDDOR events or similar).

Specification

Essential Requirements

• Full Clean UK Driving License.
• Proven experience in a health, safety and environmental management role or similar position, ideally within the construction or facilities management industry.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and best practices.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex findings and information clearly.
• NEBOSH certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Proficient in the use of IT platforms, Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with staff, subcontractors and clients at all levels.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks effectively and prioritising when needed.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating leadership in promoting health and safety initiatives.

Desirable Requirements

• Internal auditing experience, ideally in ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 IOSH membership;
• CSCS Card or equivalent;
• Experience in face fit testing;
• Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificate;

• Working Hours: Working Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm.
