HSSE Manager

Location: Port of Nigg, Scotland - Onsite position

Role: HSE focal point for all project-related Health, Safety & Environmental activities.

Reporting to: Project Director

Responsibilities:

1. To be HSE focal point for all project health, safety, and environmental activities.
2. Work with Project Manager / Construction Managers to ensure HSSE attendance at key project meetings.
3. Liaise regularly with client HSE Representatives and satisfy HSE requirements.
4. Support the Project Manager / Construction Managers with incident investigations, record keeping, and statistics.
5. Support and input to the site PTW system.
6. Support the site access control system and personal accountancy control on site.
7. Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports with improvement suggestions.
8. Manage Corrective & Preventative Actions for effective closure and monitoring.
9. Drive HSSE excellence to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
10. Conduct worksite inspections and provide feedback.
11. Attend daily shift briefings and monitor their effectiveness.
12. Support the online induction process and carry out site inductions if required.
13. Conduct internal HSE training as needed.
14. Assist in incident and near-miss investigations, liaising with clients to identify root causes and share lessons learned.
15. Assist Project Managers and Supervisors in risk assessments and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all work scopes.
16. Encourage workforce involvement in safety culture and initiatives.
17. Promote Europlan and SEI HSSE culture throughout all project phases.
18. Support a culture of personal accountability and empower personnel to stop unsafe work.

Planning and Reporting:

1. Support proactive reporting and analysis processes.
2. Monitor and report project performance against Europlan and SEI KPIs and Project HSSE KPIs.
3. Report incidents, near misses, and actions taken.

Skills Required:

• Recognized H&S qualification (NEBOSH/BSC/RoSPA/SVQ) – minimum NEBOSH Certificate / S/NVQ level 3
• Formal training in Environmental Management
• Industry experience with trade background
• Experience developing and implementing HSE management systems
• Proficient in developing risk assessments (General / COSHH / Fire / Unplanned Events)
• Good interpersonal skills
• Experience in training and inductions
• Computer literate with Microsoft Office
• Ability to produce and present reports and statistical HSE data
