Are you an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator based in Portsmouth?

Department: Operations

Location: Portsmouth

CMS2, a specialist equipment manufacturer supplying maritime atmosphere control systems and support services, is looking for a Coordinator to join the H&S team. CMS2 is part of the Science Group, an international science, engineering, and technology (“SET”) business providing services to the medical, defence, industrial, food & beverage, and consumer sectors.

As Health and Safety Coordinator, your role will be to support the Health and Safety Manager at the Portsmouth site.

You will report to the Health and Safety Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure risk assessments are in place and up to date.
• Conduct regular informal walkarounds and monthly Health and Safety inspections around the site to ensure safe systems of work are being adhered to.
• Serve as a point of contact for Health and Safety questions.
• Report health and safety data (e.g., accident forms, near misses, outputs of walkarounds) to the Health and Safety Manager and manage resulting actions.
• Assist in investigating accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of Health and Safety policies and procedures within the CMS2 Health and Safety Management System framework.
• Attend quarterly Health and Safety meetings scheduled by the Health and Safety Manager.
• Monitor Health and Safety training profiles for employees.
• Promote an inclusive culture of Health and Safety within the business.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

Essential:

• Experience or knowledge of a manufacturing site.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety systems in any environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proactive approach and ability to work independently.

Desirable:

• Nebosh or IOSH qualification.
• Degree or HND.

Additional Requirements

• Occasional travel to other TP group offices in the UK may be required.
• Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK.
• Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain it.
• To gain SC clearance, you will usually have been a UK resident for at least 5 years.
