The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Health & Safety Business Partner to join our team. The post holder will act as a health and safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Consulting Rail business sector, serving as the business conscience within the Governance framework of appointment. Assist the BU lead for HSEQ in developing and maintaining the BU IMS. Play a key role in implementing HSEQ governance, providing value-added support to operational directors to effectively discharge their responsibilities related to Health & Safety, and offer technical HSEQ support to the HSEQ team.

What you will bring to us:
  • An expert in Health & Safety with good knowledge of pertinent legislation.
  • Knowledge of BS EN ISO 45001 and HSG64, including implementation and maintenance.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Understanding of core leadership and people management principles.
  • Broad awareness of behavioral principles.
  • Ability to deliver challenging messages as a conscious of the business.
  • Understanding of risk management principles.
  • Knowledge of environmental and quality management principles.
Experience
  • Providing proactive and reactive assistance as the SME for Health & Safety in line with Regulation 7 of the MHASAWR99.
  • Helping operational Directors develop compliance and improvement plans aligned with corporate and customer safety strategies.
  • Acting as a commercially aware, business-minded partner for Health & Safety.
  • Collaborating with other Health and Safety Business Partners to share best practices.
  • Driving sustainable culture change through planning of Health & Safety activities.
  • Developing and implementing new working methods to improve safety.
  • Having strong business acumen and experience in complex operating environments.
  • Supporting the development of assurance programmes across the portfolio.
Qualifications
  • Chartered Tech or Cert Member of IOSH (desirable).
  • Diploma or higher qualification in health & safety (desirable).
  • Current PTS qualification or ability to obtain.
