Job summary

Agratas – A Tata Enterprise, Bridgwater site, seeks an EHS professional to support the delivery and coordination of occupational health, safety, welfare and environmental activities.

You will liaise with EHS and production teams to promote a strong safety culture, maintain IMS documentation, and assist with audits and ISO certifications.

Ideal candidates have NEBOSH General Certificate and relevant experience in regulated industries, with excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is essential.
• NVQ Level 4/5 in OH&S or equivalent is desirable.
• ISEP Foundation Certificate in sustainability and Environment (or equivalent).
• Internal auditing qualification preferred.
• Lead Auditor qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide a proactive contribution to the successful implementation of the Company’s EHS policies, documents and processes.
• Manage and monitor EHS performance and address or accelerate potential issues.
• Support the development and operation of the ISO certification process.
• Monitor and advise on all EHS matters to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and good industry practice.
• Maintain and periodically review related IMS documentation.
• Conduct internal audits with relevant personnel to evaluate effectiveness of systems and procedures and identify and assist with implementing improvements.
• Attend Client, Supplier and Third-Party Audits and track and respond to remedial actions identified following audit completion.
• Participate in the incident investigation and preventive/corrective action process to establish root causes and implementation and monitoring of measures to prevent future occurrences.
• Manage and monitor emergency procedures, signage, PPE, COSHH etc.
• Conduct shopfloor EHS briefings and encourage involvement from colleagues and teammates.
• Maintain awareness of evolving industry EHS regulations and best practice and relevant applications within the Company.
• Support production teams in developing departmental and zone-related EHS plans and provide feedback on effectiveness.
• Provide EHS-related briefings and training as and when required.
• Act as focal point to operational staff with regards to EHS queries and concerns.
• Provide administrative input to the EHS Central Function where required.
• Carry out any other duties and reasonable requests commensurate with this post.

Job description

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for supporting the delivery and co-ordination of occupational health, safety, welfare and environmental activities at the Bridgwater manufacturing facility.

The role requires broad business awareness and experience, with particularly good understanding of processes associated with chemical safety and environmental regulation. It requires the post holder to regularly liaise with the wider EHS and production teams to promote good partnership working arrangements.

The job holder is required to have the ability to establish relationships, solve problems, negotiate, develop and agree outcomes with others and make pragmatic decisions in a dynamic way.

Based at the Bridgwater manufacturing site, but may include supporting other sites within the UK as required.

Skills And Experience

• Passion for best practice and delivering a robust safety culture.
• Knowledge of standard data processing tools including Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
• Ability to cope and manage priorities and adapt to changing timelines and schedules.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Well-equipped to working in a fast-paced environment and driven to achieve individual and shared objectives.
• Proven work ethic, initiative and time management skills.
• Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of working in highly regulated environments, ideally oil and gas, chemical or pharmaceutical industry related.
• Working knowledge and experience in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance and certification process and Class Approval process.

Role-specific Qualifications/Certifications (essential/desirable)
