Pathway Group's Pathway AcademyZone in Burslem invites a Deputy Head with a vision to lead a new school from day one and shape its culture.

You'll oversee curriculum, safeguarding, and registration efforts while growing partnerships with local authorities and SENCOs. The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, offering a unique chance to build a school that reflects your leadership style.

Qualifications

• QTS required with senior leadership experience (Deputy/Assistant Head welcomed).
• Experience in AP, SEMH, SEND or settings supporting at-risk young people.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge; DSL experience or training preferred.
• Confident with Ofsted; knowledge of Independent School Standards is a plus.
• Entrepreneurial mindset; able to recruit and grow partnerships.
• Hands-on, resourceful; can lead across multiple roles.
• NPQH desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• The school: curriculum, teaching quality, behaviour, attendance and outcomes for every young person.
• Safeguarding: acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead and building a culture where safeguarding is everyone's job.
• Independent school registration: Application for Ofsted has been put through.
• Growth: building relationships with schools, SENCOs, Inclusion Leads and local authorities; converting referrals into placements.
• The team: recruiting, developing and keeping great staff as we grow.
• The numbers: occupancy, budget and reporting to the proprietor and governors.
