Job summary

Bright Leaf Recruitment is seeking an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse for a leadership role in London. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to the nursing team and support high standards of patient and client care.

You will lead nurse-led clinics, supervise Schedule 3 activities, and assist veterinary surgeons with procedures while promoting a positive team culture and staff development. RCVS registration is essential.

Qualifications

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse with RCVS registration.
  • Leadership or management experience preferred.
  • Ability to coach and develop nursing staff.
  • UK work eligibility and right to work in England.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day clinical leadership to the nursing team.

Job description

Head Veterinary Nurse – London | Full Time

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to take on a Head Nurse position in London. The role offers the chance to provide clinical leadership to the nursing team while helping to maintain consistently high standards of patient and client care.

The successful candidate will play a key part in supporting the wider practice team, ensuring that clinical, regulatory and operational standards are maintained. They will be responsible for encouraging a positive team culture, helping colleagues develop their skills and ensuring the nursing team has the support and guidance needed to deliver excellent patient care.

The Role

The Head Nurse will provide day-to-day clinical leadership, acting as a source of guidance and support for the nursing team. The position will involve helping nurses reach their potential through coaching, development and encouragement, while also maintaining high standards across all areas of nursing practice.

Alongside leadership responsibilities, the role will remain clinically focused. The Head Nurse will be involved in nurse-led consultations and Schedule 3 activities, as well as supporting veterinary surgeons with consultations, surgical procedures and other clinical work. Patient monitoring, inpatient care, admissions and discharges will also form part of the role, with a strong emphasis on delivering a high standard of care throughout every stage of the patient journey.

Excellent client care is equally important, and the successful candidate will help ensure clients receive a welcoming, professional and supportive experience.

The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse with a genuine passion for high-quality patient and client care. Previous leadership experience would be beneficial, particularly for someone who enjoys supporting colleagues, developing talent and bringing out the best in a team.
