Vets for Pets Telford is seeking a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to lead our friendly, supportive team. The role combines clinical leadership with hands-on nursing, including nursing clinics, and mentoring junior nurses.
You will work in a recently extended practice with in-house lab, digital x-ray, ultrasound, tonopen, cryopen, and access to ongoing CPD. The position is 40 hours per week with some weekend shifts; no Sundays or out-of-hours duties.
Are you an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse looking for your next step? An exciting opportunity has arisen at Vets for Pets Telford for a motivated and enthusiastic Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly, supportive team.
Our practice is recently extended to add a dedicated nurse consulting room to the exciting practice. Our modern practice is fully equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound, mono/bipolar electrocautery, tonopen and cryopen. We also provide complementary therapies, including acupuncture. It's a busy practice with lots of variety, with nurses having prep/theatre shifts most days to utilise their nursing skills, plus a set consulting day once a week to build case continuity with nurse clinics.
You will be working alongside 4 vets, 2 of whom have surgical certificates, and 4 experienced RVNs, including an RVN who is beginning an ECC certificate. We are a nurse training practice, so often have an SVN on placement, as well as a full time VCA and an experienced practice manager and reception team.
We are located on Wrekin Retail Park and benefit from nearby shopping and dining facilities, free on-site parking, and convenient access to the beautiful Shropshire countryside, as well as the larger towns of Shrewsbury and Birmingham.
We're looking for a nurse with solid all-round clinical skills, excellent customer service and a positive, down-to-earth approach. Previous experience in a leadership role with clinical coaching experience would be ideal. A genuine passion for animal welfare is essential. Strong organisational skills, the ability to work well within a team, and confidence in delivering high standards of patient care would be highly desirable.
This is a full time role, working 40 hours per week. We value a healthy work/life balance and are happy to discuss shift patterns to suit your needs. Some weekend work will be required with 1 in 4 Saturdays (8:30am-5:00pm) however, there are no Sundays or out-of-hours duties.
In return, we offer:
Additional benefits include a 20% discount across the Vet Group, Pets at Home and the Groom Room, access to discounts and cashback schemes, internal career development opportunities, pension, and holiday allowance.
If you're passionate about delivering exceptional pet healthcare and outstanding customer service, we would love to hear from you.
Application Closing Date: 30th of November 2026
