Job description

Are you passionate about patient care and a looking for a friendly supportive team? Look no further! An exceptional opportunity awaits you at Bedford Vets for Pets.

Bedford Vets for Pets is a long-established practice that has built a solid and dependable reputation locally with its clients. Our brilliant team culture has played a part in this and as such we have a long-standing team across all roles. We’re now looking for someone to take on all aspects of nursing and help us maintain the strong reputation we have built over the last 19 years.

You’ll be joining a close-knit team of 5 vets, 5 RVNs, 2 SVNs and 1 VCA, with a team of 5 receptions to support the client journey, freeing our nurses up to carry out their role effectively. We have regular meetings and they consist of vet, nurse or reception meetings as well as practice meetings and various team building activities in- and outside of working hours.

We utilise our nurses to their full potential and are keen to upskill and grow our own talent. Our Head Nurse has been in the team for 16 years and is a nursing ECC holder whilst another Nurse has an ISFM certificate. Practice Owner Nicole holds the GPCert(SAP) and GPCert(SAS) and one of the assistants is looking to complete her internal medicine certificate this year. We want to see our colleagues succeed and enjoy their careers with us, which is why many team members have between 5 and 10 years service.

Our practice provides excellent facilities giving you access to all the equipment and space you need to care for your patients including laparoscopy equipment and carrying out schedule 3 procedures. You’ll deal with many different species, working up cases thoroughly in house with very regular clinical discussions. We are registered with the Practice Standard Scheme and hold ISFM Silver Cat friendly status.

Your Role:

As an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse, you'll have the opportunity to apply your extensive knowledge and skills in a dynamic and supportive setting. You'll work closely with experienced professionals to enhance and share your expertise, playing a key role in delivering outstanding patient care and supporting the smooth running of the practice. Additionally, you will contribute to a positive and supportive clinic environment, mentoring less experienced staff and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

This is a full time role, working 39 hours per week with 1 in 4 Saturdays 9-3:30. No OOH or Sundays!

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse who is enthusiastic and eager to continue learning and growing professionally. Excellent communication skills and a passion for client and patient care are essential. We value team players with a positive attitude who are ready to contribute to our friendly and collaborative environment.

Benefits:
  • Competitive salary
  • A generous CPD allowance (plus funding towards certificates)
  • A contributory pension scheme
  • In-house career development opportunity
  • Paid membership fees (RCVS, VDS)
  • Access to the reward hub including wellbeing support and pastoral care
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • 20% discount at Vets for Pets, Pets at Home and the Groom Room

We also do in-team building within the practice once a month and regular team outings outside of work. The next one is a 'Paint and Sip' session!

Location: MK42 0PR

We take our inspiration from pets in embracing people from all walks of life, and we value, respect and celebrate difference. We encourage our people to be their best selves so that we can create a better world for Pets, our Planet, and People. Our ambition is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and we are intentional in addressing and removing barriers to create opportunities for the exceptional talent and potential in our communities. Even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
