Job summary

Fair City Vets in Crieff is seeking a knowledgeable Head Veterinary Nurse for a full-time role across our three sites. You will provide senior clinical leadership for the nursing team, set nursing standards and drive professional governance.

Lead nursing across multiple sites, oversee rotas, maintain high standards, and develop a capable team in collaboration with veterinary surgeons and leadership. Enjoy a supportive, values-led culture with progression and CPD opportunities.

Our three well-established sites in Crieff, Perth (Fair City) and Auchterarder each have strong links within their local communities and offer their own unique character and strengths. From the friendly, close-knit atmosphere in Crieff, to the spacious modern facilities at Fair City, and the newly renovated Auchterarder branch with exciting opportunities for future growth, each location provides a varied and rewarding working environment.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Head Veterinary Nurse, you will provide senior clinical and professional leadership for the nursing team, overseeing all nursing aspects of the practice and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient and client care.

You’ll be responsible for setting and maintaining nursing standards, leading clinical governance and quality improvement activity, and developing a capable, confident nursing team. Working closely with the wider practice leadership team, you’ll play a key role in shaping culture, performance and ways of working.

General Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead and support nursing teams across multiple practice sites
  • Maintain high clinical and patient care standards across all branches
  • Oversee nurse rotas, staffing levels and day-to-day workflow
  • Drive consistency in nursing procedures and client care across sites
  • Encourage the development of nurse-led clinics and services
  • Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and leadership teams to support practice growth and team wellbeing
Working Pattern
  • Full-time position
  • 40 hours per week across 4 days
  • Shifts between 8:00am and 7:00pm
  • 1 in 4 Saturday morning rota
  • Time off in lieu provided

You are an experienced and confident Registered Veterinary Nurse with strong leadership capability and a passion for clinical excellence. You’ll bring:

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Significant experience in clinical practice with advanced medical and surgical nursing skills
  • Proven experience of leading, mentoring and developing nursing teams
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement and professional standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
