Job summary

Teaching Personnel is partnered with a welcoming Bradford secondary school to appoint a dedicated Head of Year. The role focuses on pastoral leadership, monitoring student progress, attendance and wellbeing, and providing targeted support to students facing academic or behavioural challenges.

• Experience in a UK secondary school setting.
• Experience in pastoral, behaviour, safeguarding or student-support roles.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour and difficult conversations.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with students, families and staff.
• Highly organised with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
• Commitment to improving student outcomes, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for pastoral leadership and day-to-day welfare of an allocated year group.
• Monitor and improve student progress, attendance, punctuality and behaviour.
• Provide targeted support to students with academic, behavioural, social or emotional needs.
• Build strong relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• Communicate effectively with parents/carers and external agencies as appropriate.
• Manage pastoral and behavioural concerns following school policies.
