Job summary

Engage Education are recruiting an Assistant Head of Year for a welcoming Bradford secondary school. You will support a designated year group, work closely with the Head of Year and the wider pastoral team to promote welfare, attendance and safeguarding.

This is an immediate-start, temp-to-perm role with a competitive daily rate dependent on experience. You will build positive relationships with students, families and staff, lead targeted interventions and help create a safe, inclusive learning

Qualifications

• Previous experience with secondary-aged young people.
• Experience in pastoral, behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, mentoring or student support.
• Experience supporting SEMH, SEND or mental wellbeing is desirable.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 9–4 / A–C* or equivalent is desirable.
• Education-sector experience preferred, with transferable experience from youth work or mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day pastoral support to students and promote wellbeing.
• Promote high standards of behaviour and respond to incidents.
• Monitor attendance and punctuality and engage with families.
• Support safeguarding and liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Maintain accurate records of pastoral interventions and student information.
• Collaborate with Heads of Year, tutors, SEND teams and external agencies.
