Job summary

Thornhill Academy in Sunderland is seeking a Head of Year to lead pastoral care, attendance and student progress across a year group, line-manage Form Tutors and collaborate with parents and external agencies. You will monitor behaviour and promote high standards of attendance and punctuality.

You will also lead year group meetings, assemblies and celebrations to help every student reach their potential within our improving school community.

Qualifications

• Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Can build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
• Is passionate about supporting young people to achieve academically and personally.
• Can lead and coordinate a year group and manage a team of Form Tutors.
• Understands the importance of attendance, punctuality, behaviour and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Oversee pastoral care, progress, attendance and behaviour for your year group.
• Lead, support and motivate Form Tutors and coordinate year group activities.
• Monitor academic and personal progress and liaise with parents and external agencies.
• Lead year group meetings and assemblies and represent the year group within the school.
