Job summary

Thornhill Academy in Sunderland is seeking a Head of Year to oversee pastoral care, progress, attendance and behaviour of a year group, leading Form Tutors and collaborating with parents and external agencies.

You will monitor academic and personal development, lead year group meetings and assemblies, promote high standards, and contribute to the school's ongoing improvement journey. The role is permanent, 36 hours a week, term-time plus 5 days, with a salary of £29,679.71 to £31,877.08.

Qualifications

About this Role

As a Head of Year, youwill take responsibility for the pastoral care, progress, attendance, behaviourand wider development of students within your year group. You Will lead andsupport a team of Form Tutors, working collaboratively to ensure studentsreceive the guidance, encouragement and challenge they need to succeed.

You will monitoracademic and personal progress, promote high standards of attendance,punctuality and behaviour, and work closely with students, parents, colleaguesand external agencies where appropriate. You will also lead year group meetingsand assemblies, celebrate achievement and help ensure every student feelssupported, valued and able to fulfil their potential.

This is a pivotal rolewithin the school, particularly as we continue our exciting journey ofimprovement and development.

Thornhill Academy isan 11-16 secondary academy with over 600 students, situated close to SunderlandCity Centre. The Role

Contract: Permanent

Working Pattern: 36 hours, term time plus 5 days

Grade: Grade 7, SCP 19-23

Actual Salary: £29,679.71 - £31,877.08

As Head of Year, youwill develop and maintain a positive ethos within your year group, encouragingstudents to have high expectations of themselves and others. You will haveresponsibility for effective pastoral care and promoting academic success, workingclosely with Form Tutors, students, parents, colleagues and external agenciesto ensure appropriate support is provided.
