Job summary

The Mead Educational Trust (TMET) is seeking a proactive Head of Year for Brookvale Groby Learning Campus (BGLC) to cover maternity leave. The role is part-time, two days per week (Thursday and Friday) as a job-share, contributing to student wellbeing and attainment across the year group.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated pastoral team within TMET, supporting a culture of excellence, ambition and inclusion, and helping to shape a safe and positive school environment for over 1,500

Qualifications

• Experience in pastoral care or safeguarding within a secondary school setting.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Commitment to supporting student attainment and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Head of Year to oversee pastoral needs of students in their year group.
• Provide leadership during maternity cover, working two days a week (Thu/Fri) in a job-share.
• Contribute to a culture of excellence, ambition and inclusion and create a safe school environment.
• Support over 1,500 students on the Brookvale Groby Learning Campus.

Job description

The Pastoral team forms a central and integral part of our campus supporting students. The Head of Year will be responsible for ensuring the pastoral needs of students within their year group are fully met, enabling those students to achieve their academic potential. The role maternity cover and is working 2 days per week, Thursday and Friday as a job share.

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and well organised person to join our Pastoral Team as part of the dedicated staff at Brookvale Groby Learning Campus (BGLC), part of The Mead Educational Trust (TMET).

With effect from 1st September 2025 BGLC became part of The Mead Educational Trust (TMET) having gone through a period of significant change from 2017. Our founding schools were Brookvale High School, an 11-14 high school, and Groby Community College, a 14-19 upper school. As a campus we meet the educational needs of over 1500 students with over 300 of those enrolled in our Post 16 provisions.
