Job summary

Gregory Walker Associates is recruiting an experienced Transport Manager for a bakery business in London. You will lead a team of 25 drivers and 3 night-shift supervisors, and oversee 115 store deliveries across 17 routes, ensuring on-time, compliant operations.

Are you an experienced Transport Manager who enjoys being hands‑on and making things happen?

We are working with a well‑established bakery business that is going through an exciting period of investment and transformation. They are looking for a Transport Manager to take ownership of their transport operation and help drive it forward.

The Role

You will manage a team of 25 drivers and 3 night‑shift supervisors, overseeing the delivery of fresh bakery products to 115 stores across 17 routes.

This is a hands‑on role where you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the operation, improving driver retention and ensuring deliveries run smoothly.

Your responsibilities will include:

• * Managing drivers, supervisors and the daily transport operation.
• * Overseeing 17 multi‑drop delivery routes.
• * Improving driver retention and reducing turnover.
• * Maintaining and improving transport compliance.
• * Managing the O Licence requirements.
• * Reviewing transport processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
• * Working closely with the senior management team to improve the operation.

About You

We are looking for someone with experience in a fast‑paced, multi‑drop transport environment. You may be a Transport Manager, Head of Transport or an experienced Transport Supervisor ready to take the next step.

You will ideally have experience within food, bakery, FMCG or retail distribution, with a strong understanding of driver management and transport compliance.

Most importantly, you will be someone who can cope with pressure, bring structure to a busy operation and get stuck in when needed.
