FMCG executive network seeks a Transport Manager in Ruislip to lead the day-to-day transport operation and ensure a safe, efficient service for customers.

Qualifications

  • CPC qualification or Transport Manager CPC required.
  • Experience managing transport in FMCG or chilled/frozen distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for day-to-day transport operation.
  • Lead, manage and develop the transport and driving team.
  • Plan and coordinate routes and schedules to maximise efficiency.
  • Monitor OTIF, delivery performance, vehicle utilisation and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with transport legislation and HSE requirements.
  • Oversee driver hours, licences and training.
  • Manage fleet availability and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Warehouse, Operations, Customer Service and Supply Chain.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Manage transport budgets and monitor expenditure.
  • Investigate delivery issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop relationships with external providers and stakeholders.
  • Produce and review transport KPIs for senior management.

Transport Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join their successful and established business based in Ruislip.

This is a key operational leadership position, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day transport operation and ensuring a safe, efficient and reliable service to customers.

The successful candidate will be an experienced transport professional who can lead teams, drive operational performance and maintain high standards across transport compliance, fleet management, service levels and cost control.

Responsibilities as Transport Manager
  • Take overall responsibility for the day to day transport operation.
  • Lead, manage and develop the transport and driving team.
  • Plan and coordinate delivery schedules and routes to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Monitor transport performance, including OTIF, delivery performance, vehicle utilisation and operating costs.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant transport legislation, company policies and health & safety requirements.
  • Oversee driver compliance, including working hours, licences, training and performance.
  • Manage fleet availability, vehicle maintenance and associated service requirements.
  • Work closely with Warehouse, Operations, Customer Service and Supply Chain teams to ensure effective coordination of deliveries.
  • Identify opportunities to improve transport efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Manage transport budgets and monitor expenditure against agreed targets.
  • Investigate delivery issues, delays and service failures, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external transport providers, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
  • Produce and review transport KPIs and provide regular performance updates to senior management.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Requirements as Transport Manager
  • CPC qualification / Transport Manager CPC.
  • Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or chilled/frozen distribution.
  • Experience managing a mixed fleet or company-owned fleet.
  • Experience working with transport management systems.
  • Strong understanding of driver compliance and operator licensing requirements.
