Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is seeking an experienced Head of Therapies / Senior Speech and Language Therapist for a specialist SEND school in Braintree, Essex. The school supports pupils aged 3–19 with autism, SLD, PMLD and complex communication needs.

You will lead an established therapy team, oversee interventions, and ensure therapy is embedded in the curriculum and EHCP processes. This is a part-time, term-time position, on-site, three days a week (8:30am–4:30pm).

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
• Experience with SEND and complex communication needs.
• Knowledge of EHCP processes and multidisciplinary working.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and supervise a therapy team within a specialist SEND school.
• Oversee assessments and personalised therapy programmes for pupils.
• Support AAC and total communication approaches in school.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Ensure therapy is integrated into curriculum and EHCP plans.
• Lead service development and staff training on therapeutic strategies.
