Job description

Taylor Hopkinson are working with a global leader in renewable energy, driving the energy transition through innovative projects across an operating 3GW portfolio of wind, solar, and battery assets, with hubs in London, Belgium, Japan, Taiwan, and the US.

As Head of Technical in the onshore renewables team, you’ll lead the development, construction, and operation of high-performance renewable energy projects, collaborating globally to drive a 4GW pipeline.

Responsibilities:

• Lead technical diligence, site evaluation, and feasibility studies for projects.
• Design PV solar systems and develop engineering specs per local regulations.
• Provide technical guidance through planning, construction, and commissioning.
• Optimise asset performance for cost-effective energy output.
• Coordinate with developers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to meet standards.
• Keep updated on trends in BESS, onshore wind, and solar PV technology.
• Manage technical documentation for development and government tenders.
• Conduct strategic project analysis, planning, and risk management.
• Support PPA negotiations and commercial contracts with partners and providers.
• Align technical aspects with financial/technical advisors and bidding strategy.
• Oversee plant optimisation and external consultant selection.
• Identify and manage risks throughout project stages.
• Prepare investment reports and presentations for internal approval.
• Ensure technical oversight of the operating portfolio and mentor team members.

Requirements:

• 15+ years in renewable energy (solar PV, storage, onshore wind), ideally on a global scale.
• Proven experience in technical development, delivery, and operations, with involvement in bidding and M&A.
• Deep expertise in procurement and supply chains for onshore renewables, including regional variations.
• Extensive industry network, including OEMs, contractors, and technical advisors.
• Strong track record in strategic planning, risk management, and growth initiatives.
• Credibility with stakeholders, investors, and partners, established through successful project acquisitions and joint ventures.
• Hands-on leader with excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Proactive problem-solver with outstanding planning and project management abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field; Master’s preferred.
