Full Job Description

Our client, a leading Pharmaceutical manufacturer, is looking to appoint a Head of Technical responsible for the reliable, efficient, and compliant operation of the Technical Department (Technical Manufacturing, Technical Packaging, and Artwork). The role ensures routine GMP compliance and efficient operations. This is an exciting time to join as they expand their portfolio and premises for more manufacturing and packaging lines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide Subject Matter Expertise in Technology: Ensure a scientific approach in development and change management of packaging materials, product formulation, manufacture, packaging, and cleaning.
2. Technical Operational Effectiveness: Oversee initiatives for effective artwork, packaging, and manufacturing operations, including batch record generation, supplier management, process monitoring, and control measures.
3. Operational Leadership: Collaborate with operational leadership to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective production.
4. EDCS Effectiveness: Guide and support strategic technology interfaces during product development, registration, and launch, ensuring alignment with global standards.

General Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and report incidents.
• Ensure product quality through adherence to procedures.
• Identify and implement operational improvements and cost reductions.
• Ensure compliance with corporate standards, GMP, GDP, and industry standards.
• Engage with stakeholders, support audits, and ensure SOP compliance.

Working Relationships

• Collaborate with operational leadership, support long-term planning, and coordinate with global manufacturing networks.
• Support product development, regulatory submissions, and external partnerships.

Departmental Management

• Ensure safety and GMP compliance, manage budgets, and oversee training and development.
• Coordinate daily operations, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical Expertise in Packaging, Material Science & Product Formulation

• Develop manufacturing and packaging teams, manage artwork, process development, validation, and regulatory filings.
• Investigate new technologies and support equipment qualification.

Operational Effectiveness

• Lead manufacturing and packaging operations, implement quality improvements, manage batch records, and support supply chain and supply chain issues.

Skills and Qualifications

• Leadership experience in managing teams within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Technical knowledge, change management experience, and familiarity with MHRA/EMA/FDA guidance.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, prioritization, and self-development skills.
