  • Extensive experience in a senior Technical role within construction.
  • Strong understanding of BMS, Quality, and Employment policies.

Responsibilities

  • Control design process from planning to project completion.

Role Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Technical to join our team within Vistry South London, at our office in Stratford, London. As our Head of Technical, you will demonstrate a practical, thorough, pro-active, and efficient approach to design development and management. You will work within a team from project inception to completion, possessing the commercial awareness to develop design proposals that maximize efficiency and profitability within approval constraints. The technical team collaborates to deliver considered and buildable design solutions within project timelines, with support from a monitored consultant supply chain.

More about the Head of Technical role…

  • Recommend appointment of consultants
  • Control design process from planning to project completion
  • Ensure detailed designs meet Vistry’s standards and requirements
  • Manage and review design development for value engineering and buildability
  • Ensure timely registration with warranty providers (NHBC, Robust Details) and building regulation compliance
  • Manage CDM responsibilities, including health and safety documentation
  • Coordinate technical assessments, warranties, certificates, and related documentation
  • Review design development to ensure safety and compliance with legislation and policies
  • Obtain pre-application advice and approvals for highway works and planning layouts
  • Understand relevant acts (Highways Act, Water Industry Act, Flood Water Management Act) and processes (S38, 104, 278)
  • Provide technical support and detailed drawings to production, site management, and subcontractors
  • Conduct site visits and prepare reports to ensure construction aligns with specifications
  • Deliver coordinated design packages for budget, tender, and construction
  • Implement and promote Vistry’s SHE policies and legal requirements
  • Support achievement of financial targets and business growth initiatives
  • Support and develop the technical team
