Job summary

Wellcome Sanger Institute in Hinxton is seeking a Head of TDS Delivery for a 12‑month fixed‑term role guiding a team of Development Scientists and steering a diverse project portfolio. You will lead recruitment, performance management and professional development across the team.

You will collaborate with the Associate Director of TDS and stakeholders to prioritise work, allocate resources, and deliver high‑quality workflows on time and within budget, maximising impact across the Institute.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to initiate, lead and deliver a complex portfolio of technical development projects.
• Strong background in scientific or technical environments with focus on delivery and leadership.
• Experience in managing teams and overseeing the full employee lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Manage the TDS Delivery development project portfolio with prioritisation and resourcing.
• Make resourcing decisions balancing demand, capacity, capability and risk.
• Oversee project delivery from initiation to transition into routine operation.
• Identify and manage delivery risks, dependencies and constraints.
• Lead and develop the TDS Delivery team and support professional development.
• Align team activities with organisational priorities and changing demands.
• Build cross-functional relationships to maximise impact of TDS.
