Head of Supply Chain

About Our Client

Our client is the world leading manufacturer of wood panel boards. They pride themselves on delivering “Wood Perfected” and have invested in innovation since 1897. With £300m being spent on their Chirk manufacturing facility within the last few years, and a further £200m to be spent in the next couple of years.

They currently have an opportunity for a dynamic Senior Manager to head up their Supply Chain, taking responsibility for the Logistics, Production Planning and Customer Service teams.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As the Head of Supply Chain, you'll be responsible for shaping and executing their end-to-end supply chain strategy. From production planning to distribution and logistics, you'll drive operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. You'll lead a high-performing team, build strong partnerships, and ensure their supply chain is agile, scalable, and future-ready. Delivering excellence on time to their customers right across the UK and Ireland.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for coordinating Production Planning, Customer Service and Logistics teams and controlling of retrospective budgets.
• Determine what good looks like and set the KPI's in line with the overall business goals.
• Train, develop and evaluate team members, supporting a high-performance team.
• Collaborate with other departments to achieve optimum cost and operational performance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and hauliers.
• Manage the distribution operations from Chirk, including negotiations with hauliers to ensure coverage, with high levels of service.
• Agree contracts with hauliers, outlining service expectations.
• Ensure that warehousing is utilised efficiently with minimal damages.
• Maintain a First in First Out stock rotation mentality within the team.
• Comply with service level expectations for customers to ensure we are providing the level of service their customers have come to expect from them.

Requirements:

• Ability to work with Windows software applications and maximise system data reporting.
• Good appreciation for Logistical IT packages.
• Bachelor's degree or commercial apprenticeship required.
• Previous senior management experience in Logistics / Supply Chain for 5+ years.
• Hands on experience with supply chain management software (such as SAP) and be able to transfer this knowledge to in house solutions (K-Soft).
• A working knowledge of Paragon.
• Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company's success.
